Descripción

Cotarnine is a drug that belongs to the class of hydrogen bonding interactions. It has been shown to be effective against a number of infectious diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease and infectious diarrhea. Cotarnine is an analog for penicillin and binds to bacterial cell walls, inhibiting enzymes that are necessary for protein synthesis. It also forms hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl group on the surface of cells, which may be responsible for its ability to form a film-forming polymer in vitro.
