Cuneatin-7-methyl ether is a prenylated chalcone that has been chemically synthesized. It has been shown to have cancer therapeutic properties and is under development as a potential treatment for uvb-induced skin cancers. The synthesis of cuneatin-7-methyl ether was accomplished by combining the flavonoid, quercetin with the chalcone, usaramensis in a crystallographic process. The compound was then subjected to spectrometric analysis and chromatographic techniques. Finally, the compound was tested for its ability to induce tumor cell death in response to uvb light radiation.
