CATPB is a fatty acid that has been shown to be a specific agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor CATB, which is mainly expressed in the cytosol. CATPB activates effector proteins such as phospholipase A2 and cyclooxygenase-2, resulting in an inflammatory response. This compound has been shown to have inhibitory effects on inflammation, but its pharmacokinetic properties are unknown. CATPB has not been tested on humans or wild-type mice, but it does show potential as a drug target for inflammatory diseases.
