2,3-Dehydrokievitone is a coumarin derivative that has been shown to have biological properties. This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective effects in vitro. It also inhibits the transcriptional regulation of the gene encoding interleukin 6 (IL-6), an inflammatory cytokine that is induced by various agents including hepatitis C virus (HCV). 2,3-Dehydrokievitone has been shown to be effective against Flavus and Luteone strains of Candida albicans in vitro. This compound also exhibits antifungal activity against other fungi such as Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma harzianum.
