2',3'-Dimethoxyflavone is a natural product that is isolated from the plant, Quercus incana. It is also found in other plants such as Alnus japonica, and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. The chemical structure of 2',3'-dimethoxyflavone can be used as a reference material for HPLC standards. It has been shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) activity and prostaglandin E2 production in vitro. This may be due to its ability to inhibit protein kinase C (PKC) activity and protein synthesis in human lung cancer cells.
