(R)-3-Pyrrolidineacetic acid is a chiral compound that can be synthesized in two ways. One method of synthesis involves the use of enolates and chromatographic methods to obtain (R)-3-pyrrolidineacetic acid with an optical purity of >99%. The second synthetic method involves the use of oxidative conditions to obtain (R)-3-pyrrolidineacetic acid with an optical purity of >99%. The stereochemistry for both methods is based on the choice of chiral synthon, which can be either D or L. This means that one isomer will be diastereomerically pure and the other will be racemic.
