It has been shown to be active against L6 cells and a number of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 3-Geranyloxy-6-methyl-1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone appears to act by binding to DNA molecules and inhibiting their replication. 3-Geranyloxy-6-methyl-1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone also has antioxidant properties that may help prevent cancer cell proliferation.
