Gypenoside Li is a pentacyclic triterpene glycoside that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis in the mitochondria. It also has anti-cancer properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis. Gypenoside Li is a potent inhibitor of hepg2 cells, causing mitochondrial membrane potential depolarization, which leads to cell death. It also inhibits acetate extract-mediated locomotor activity and sample preparation-induced locomotor activity in mice. The cytotoxic effect of Gypenoside Li was found to be dependent on toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signalling pathways.
