Isokhellactone is a natural product that has been isolated from the leaves of the plant species, grandis. It is also found in the fruit of japonica and acetonide. Isokhellactone has been reported to have a variety of biological activities including antitumor, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects. Isokhellactone has been shown to possess antimicrobial activity against bacteria such as E. coli and S. aureus, and fungi such as C. albicans. Isokhellactone has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells (e.g., leukemia cells) in vitro by inhibiting DNA synthesis, protein synthesis, and lipid synthesis.
