Atorvastatin-d5 sodium is an interaction agent that has been used to measure the binding affinity of statins with their corresponding receptors. This drug interacts with 4-hydroxy-atorvastatin, which is a metabolite of atorvastatin, and has been shown to inhibit the production of cholesterol in the liver. Atorvastatin-d5 sodium has also been used to develop assays for measuring atorvastatin in blood plasma and serum. It has a linear range from 0.4 to 1 μM with a limit of detection of 0.02 μM and a limit of quantitation of 0.06 μM. The drug can be used as a microdose for bioanalysis applications as well as a sample preparation agent for pharmaceutical analysis. END>
