S 32212 hydrochloride is a peptide that is used as a research tool. It has been shown to activate the potassium channels in mammalian cells, and can be used to study the interactions between proteins and receptors. S 32212 hydrochloride is an inhibitor of ligand-gated ion channels and has been shown to inhibit the binding of calcium ions to neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) with an IC50 of 0.5 μM. S32212 hydrochloride also inhibits protein interactions by inhibiting the binding of beta-secretase with its substrate APP, leading to decreased production of Aβ peptides in cell culture systems.
