FSL-1 is an experimental drug that is being studied to treat infectious diseases and autoimmune diseases. FSL-1 is a cationic polypeptide with chemoattractant properties, which may be useful in the treatment of HIV infection. It has been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines, such as IL-6, TNF-α, IL-8, and MCP-1. FSL-1 also inhibits the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), such as MMP-9. Furthermore, this compound has been shown to suppress the activation of NFκB and AP-1 in vivo and in vitro.
