Pipercide is an amide-containing compound that has been shown to have high resistance against chronic bronchitis in rats. Pipercide inhibits the enzyme hepg2, which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This inhibition reduces inflammation and swelling, thereby providing relief from symptoms of chronic bronchitis. The chemical diversity of pipercide has been studied using rat liver microsomes, which showed that it can inhibit a number of different enzymes. Pipercide also has antioxidant properties, which are possibly due to its ability to scavenge free radicals.
