Descripción:Prehumulone is an α-acid precursor, which is a bitter compound found in hop plants (Humulus lupulus). It is derived from the flowers of the hop plant, which are rich in resins and essential oils. The primary function of Prehumulone is to participate in the biosynthesis of bitter acids during the brewing process. When hops are added to boiling wort, Prehumulone undergoes isomerization to form humulone, which further converts into iso-α-acids—key contributors to the bitter flavor in beer.
