3-(3-Carboethoxyphenyl)-1-propene is a taxane that binds to the microtubules and prevents them from assembling. It is used in the treatment of cancer, specifically breast cancer. 3-(3-Carboethoxyphenyl)-1-propene has been shown to have significant activity against paclitaxel-resistant cells and significant cytotoxicity towards human cancer cell lines. The molecular mechanism by which 3-(3-Carboethoxyphenyl)-1-propene exerts its effect on microtubules is not well understood. However, it has been suggested that 3-(3-Carboethoxyphenyl)-1-propene may bind to the tubulin subunit of the microtubule and affect its conformational stability.
