It can be synthesized from 2-(trifluoromethyl)thioacetaldehyde and 1,2-benzisothiazole in the presence of a catalytic amount of chiral tetrahydrothiophene. This compound can also be obtained by an organocatalytic process with enamines and organocatalyst.
