SB-756050 is a molecule that belongs to the class of analogs. It is a potent inhibitor of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and glucose regulation in obese mice. SB-756050 is also associated with a paradigm shift in the understanding of how insulin resistance is induced by obesity. This compound inhibits growth factors that are involved in hepatic steatosis, such as hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1).
