A-889425 is a cation channel inhibitor that inhibits the activation of voltage-gated sodium channels in neurons. It is used for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain, pancreatic pain, and chronic inflammatory pain. A-889425 has been shown to have a therapeutic effect on osteoarthritic pain, as well as inflammatory and spontaneous pain in animals. The mechanism of action of this drug is not known, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit actin filament assembly. Clinical studies have shown that A-889425 can treat chronic spontaneous pain in humans.
