Texasin 7-O-glucoside is a flavonoid that can be isolated from the bark of the leptadenia tree. It has been shown to have antitumor activity and is used as an anti-inflammatory agent. Texasin 7-O-glucoside has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice, as well as induce apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. This compound also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species, leading to decreased DNA damage and apoptosis induction. Texasin 7-O-glucoside is a precursor for other compounds that are involved in chemical structures such as antimetastatic agents, which are used in bone marrow transplants.
