Descripción:3-Hydroxythiolane-3-carboxylic acid is a metabolite that is found in the fungus Aspergillus. It has been shown to have antibiotic and antibacterial activities. 3-Hydroxythiolane-3-carboxylic acid may be used as a fluoroquinolone analog to treat bacterial infections, such as tuberculosis, or as an antifungal agent to treat fungal infections. 3HTCA contains methylthio and isocoumarin moieties, which give it its antioxidant properties. The configuration of these groups can be determined using spectroscopic data. This molecule has been shown to have optical and NMR spectroscopic data that can be used to determine its configuration.
