S38093 HCl is a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) agonist that binds to the allosteric site of the α7-nAChR. This drug has been shown to have memory-enhancing effects in animals and may be useful for treating Alzheimer's disease. S38093 HCl has also been shown to have anti-dyskinesia and anti-diastereomer effects, which may be due to its ability to stimulate locomotor activity. S38093 HCl is an enantiomer of nicotine and is metabolized by human cytochrome P450 enzymes into acetylcholine and other metabolites.
