M4284 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the group of natural products. It is effective against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), as well as many other microorganisms such as fungi, protozoa, and viruses. M4284 has been shown to be active against both HIV and Influenza A virus in vitro. The compound is also effective in vivo, where it kills HIV-infected cells in the test tube. This drug has a high purity level of 98%.
M4284 is synthesized by the coupling of two compounds: 1) 3-[(2S)-2-amino-3-(hydroxymethyl)propionylamino]-1H-indole (AHP) with 2) N-(1H-indol-3-ylmethylene)-N'-(2HCl).
