Ofloxacin is a synthetic antibiotic that is effective against a wide range of bacteria and viruses. It has been shown to be active against microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Streptococcus pyogenes. Ofloxacin is also used for the treatment of skin infections caused by fungi or parasites. Ofloxacin may be used in combination with other antibiotics for the treatment of bacterial infections.
Ofloxacin is available as tablets or an oral solution at a concentration of 200 mg per 5 ml. The tablets are white and round with "FLX" on one side and "200" on the other. The oral solution is clear with "FLX" on one side and "200" on the other.
