UR-1102 is a sulfonamide that blocks the synthesis of uridine monophosphate, which is essential for the production of DNA and RNA. UR-1102 inhibits the metabolic pathway of uridine diphosphate, which prevents the conversion to uridine monophosphate. UR-1102 has been shown to inhibit the activity of atazanavir in vitro, as well as in vivo. UR-1102 may also have a direct effect on immune reactions by acting as an antagonist or agonist at certain receptors. UR-1102 has been shown to inhibit human liver cytosol sulfation and transporters profiles, which may be due to its sulfate moiety.
