• Descripción: Cytokinins are plant hormones involved in developmental processes and in the modulation of plant immune system. Zeatin was identified as the first naturally occurring cytokinin from the endosperm of corn (latin: Zea mays). Water-soluble trans-Zeatin Riboside is a major long-distance signaling molecule in xylem vessels and its action depends on metabolic conversion in proximity to the site of action. Trans-Zeatin Riboside is a powerful agent used in horticulture to improve shoot growth or to induce callus formation (e.g. in tomato). It is used for plant regeneration from leaf explants (e.g. in potato) and for the direct initiation of shoot cultures from bract axils of many plant species.
