Avocadene acetate is a synthetic ligand that is used as a research tool to study protein interactions, receptor activation, and ion channels. Avocadene acetate binds to the calcium-sensing receptor, which is a G-protein coupled receptor found on the surface of cells. It has been shown to activate this receptor and induce calcium release from intracellular stores. Avocadene acetate also binds to other receptors and ion channels with high affinity, including nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), GABA receptors, serotonin receptors, and 5HT2A serotonin receptors.
