Descripción:Tebuquine is a potent and selective blocker of voltage-gated ion channels, which are proteins that control the passage of ions across cell membranes. Tebuquine is a useful research tool for studying protein interactions and determining the effects of drugs on ion channels. It can be used to block potassium channels, which regulate the amount of potassium ions in cells. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of receptor-activated ion channels and to activate ligand-gated ion channels. Tebuquine has been shown to bind to calcium-activated potassium channels with high affinity, but does not bind to calcium-activated chloride or sodium channels. This drug also blocks voltage-gated calcium (Ca) channels in cultured rat neurons with an IC50 value of approximately 0.1 µM.
