The peptide hormone, Pglu-Leu-Thr-Phe-Thr-Ser-Ser-Trp-GlyNH2 is a tryptophan derivative that has been found to be activated by the nodule. It is thought to be a G protein coupled receptor and it's function is unknown. The peptide hormone, Pglu-Leu-Thr-Phe-Thr-Ser-Ser-Trp-GlyNH2 has been shown in animal studies to inhibit the synthesis of β amino acids and proteins. This may be due to its hydroxyl group and fatty acid groups.
