Inhibition of this enzyme by 4-bromophenylacetic acid ethyl ester may be useful in the treatment of prostate cancer. The chemical has also been shown to inhibit glycoprotein synthesis in herpes simplex virus and human plasma proteins involved in drug metabolism.
