Applications Formaldehyde is used in various organic synthesis and reactions. It is used in the textile industry in the area of crosslinking molecules to vary the properties of cotton fabrics (1). It can help improve the water resistance of biodegradable collagen films (2). In the food industry it is used to reinforce and improve packaging of meats and produce. Drinking water contaminant candidate list 3 (CCL 3) compound as per United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), environmental, and food contaminants.
