Coenzyme A (CoA) is a cofactor that plays a key role in the biosynthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol. It has been shown to have anticancer activity, with the potential to be used as an anticancer therapy. CoA enhances the activation of anticancer agents, such as doxorubicin, by preventing their metabolism or excretion. The enhancement is achieved by uncoupling mitochondria and increasing the production of reactive oxygen species. This process results in a decrease in tumor size and increased survival rates for mice injected with glioblastoma cells.
