This compound binds to the receptor and activates it, leading to an increase in intracellular calcium levels. 1-[4-Nitro-2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]piperazine hydrochloride has been shown to activate TRPM8 in a dose-dependent manner. This compound has also been shown to inhibit the activity of ligand-gated ion channels, such as nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and serotonin 5HT3 receptors.
