1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphate sodium salt (DPPG) is a lipid with a phosphate head group that acts as an activator of the phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K), which is involved in the regulation of cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation. DPPG has been shown to inhibit the activity of ion channels by binding to their cytoplasmic domains. This inhibition leads to decreased release of neurotransmitters from presynaptic terminals. It also interacts with proteins such as alpha-2 adrenergic receptor and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors.
