4,4,4-(1,3,5-Triazine-1,3,5(2H,4H,6H)-triyl)tris-benzaldehyde is a ligand for the inhibitory G protein coupled receptors. It has been shown to activate the potassium ion channel and inhibit receptor-mediated calcium release from intracellular stores. This compound is used as a research tool in cell biology and pharmacology. 4,4,4-(1,3,5-Triazine-1,3,5(2H,4H,6H)-triyl)tris-benzaldehyde can be synthesized by reacting 1 mole of 3-[2-(hydroxymethyl)phenoxy]propane with 2 moles of pivalaldehyde in the presence of sodium hydroxide in ethanol.
