1,2-Éthanediamine, N,N'-bis(2-aminoéthyl)-, communément connu sous le nom de diéthylènetriamine (DETA), est un liquide incolore à jaune pâle avec une forte odeur d'amine. C'est une polyamine avec la formule chimique C4H13N3 et se caractérise par la présence de plusieurs groupes amine, qui contribuent à sa haute réactivité et à sa capacité à former des liaisons hydrogène. DETA est hygroscopique et soluble dans l'eau, ce qui le rend utile dans diverses applications, y compris comme agent de durcissement pour les résines époxy, dans la production de tensioactifs et comme agent chélatant dans la complexation des ions métalliques. Sa basicité lui permet de participer à diverses réactions chimiques, y compris celles impliquant l'acylation et l'alkylation.
