Description : Benzylpénicilline potassique, communément connu sous le nom de pénicilline G potassique, est un antibiotique bêta-lactame efficace contre une variété de bactéries Gram-positives et certaines bactéries Gram-négatives. Il se caractérise par sa forme de poudre cristalline blanche à blanc cassé, soluble dans l'eau et ayant un pH légèrement acide. Le composé est généralement administré par injection en raison de son instabilité dans des environnements acides, comme l'estomac. La benzylpénicilline agit en inhibant la synthèse de la paroi cellulaire bactérienne, entraînant la lyse cellulaire et la mort, ce qui la rend particulièrement utile dans le traitement d'infections telles que la pneumonie, la méningite et la syphilis.
