CAS :E-4031 is a drug that belongs to the class of ryanodine receptor antagonists. It is a potent inhibitor of the calcium release from intracellular stores and has been shown to be effective in experimental models of cardiac disease. E-4031 has been shown to have cardiac effects such as a decrease in heart rate and blood pressure, while having no effect on the contractility of the heart. E-4031 also inhibits myocardial infarct size and improves left ventricular function following an experimental myocardial infarction. These effects are due to its ability to inhibit calcium overload in cardiomyocytes by decreasing calcium levels inside the cell and preventing Ca2+ overload.
