5-Methyl-2-(propan-2-yl)cyclohexyl 2-hydroxyacetate is a compound that is used as a corrosion inhibitor in wastewater treatment. It reacts with anions, such as chloride and bromide ions, to form an insoluble salt. This salt can be removed from the wastewater through filtration or adsorption. 5-Methyl-2-(propan-2-yl)cyclohexyl 2-hydroxyacetate has been shown to be effective against aluminium, zirconium, and hydrochloric acid without affecting the reaction selectivity. The product does not react with amines or other organic substances.
