1-(Methylamino)cyclopentane-1-carboxamide (1-MCPC) is a potent, selective, and orally active inhibitor of bacterial GTPase-activating protein (GAP). 1-MCPC has been shown to be effective against bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. It is also active against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium perfringens. Hydroxyl groups on 1-MCPC enable it to act as an optical system, which can be used in optical imaging techniques such as diffracting or gtpase activating protein.
