Ethyl 7-(3-aminophenyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-3-carboxylate hydrochloride is a pharmaceutical preparation that has been shown to reduce the incidence of restenosis in humans. It inhibits the activity of protein kinase C and is an inhibitor of inflammatory diseases such as coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillation, and congestive heart failure. It also has antimicrobial effects against bacteria and HIV infection. Ethyl 7-(3-aminophenyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-3-carboxylate hydrochloride is metabolized in the liver by hydroxylation and conjugation with glucuronic acid. The drug binds to collagen, which may account for its anticancer properties.
