CAS :<p>Sulfadiazine-(phenyl-13C6) is a compound that has been prepared for on-line, muscle validation, and monitoring of resistance development. This compound is also used to calibrate and validate liquid chromatography instruments. Sulfadiazine-(phenyl-13C6) is a macrolide antibiotic with a long half-life, which makes it an ideal candidate for monitoring the uptake of antibiotics in muscle tissue. It has been shown to be effective against staphylococci and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. However, this compound is not active against acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium avium complex or Mycobacterium leprae. Sulfadiazine-(phenyl-13C6) can be used as a marker for pharmaceuticals and other compounds in liquid chromatography applications by derivatization with phenylboronic acid or phenyltrifluoroacetic acid.
