LY 278584 is a potent and selective 5-HT2C receptor antagonist with neuroprotective activity. It has been shown to inhibit the binding of serotonin to 5-HT1A receptors and the dopamine D2 receptor. LY 278584 also inhibits serotonin reuptake in rats, suggesting that it may be used as a treatment for depression.
