GNE-900 is a potent inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase Bcr-Abl and has been shown to induce apoptotic cell death in human leukemia cells. GNE-900 inhibits the activity of chk1, which is a major checkpoint for cell cycle progression. The compound also has potentiating effects on radiation and chemotherapeutic agents. GNE-900 is currently undergoing clinical trials for various cancers, including chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
