It is used in the treatment of asthma, allergies, and other inflammatory diseases. 2-Bromo beclomethasone dipropionate is a prodrug that is activated by esterases to release the active form, which has been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory activity. The systematic name for this drug is 2-bromo-17α,21-dihydroxy-16β-[(1R*,3S*)]-11β-[2-(1H-indol-3yl)ethenyl]-5α-androstane 3, 17β-[(1R*,3S*)]-. This drug has conformations that are planar and monoclinic. The chain contains six carbon atoms and six hydrogen bonding sites.
