N-Ethyl-4-Phenylpiperidin (NEP) is a synthetic drug that acts as a selective androgen receptor modulator. It binds to the androgen receptor in muscle tissue and blocks the binding of dihydrotestosterone to the receptor, thereby inhibiting its effects. NEP has been shown to have no effect on serotonin levels but does enhance the effects of pharmaceutical preparations that act as serotonin agonists. NEP has also been shown to be an irritant to muscle tissues and can cause severe pain upon injection.
