CAS :Desfuroyl ceftiofur sodium is a veterinary cephalosporin antibiotic, which is derived from cephalosporin C, a beta-lactam antibiotic produced by the fungus Cephalosporium acremonium. Its mode of action involves the inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). This prevents the cross-linking of peptidoglycan layers, leading to cell lysis and bacterial death, particularly effective against Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria.

CAS :Desfuroyl ceftiofur is a β-lactam antibiotic that has a wide spectrum of activity against bacteria. It is effective for the treatment of respiratory infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and urinary tract infections. Desfuroyl ceftiofur is also used to treat mastitis in dairy cattle. The efficacy of desfuroyl ceftiofur has been demonstrated in clinical studies and in studies on laboratory animals. The bactericidal activity of desfuroyl ceftiofur can be attributed to its inhibition of the synthesis of bacterial cell wall mucopeptides, which are essential for bacterial growth. Desfuroyl ceftiofur binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on bacterial cell walls by competitive inhibition and inhibits the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Desfuroyl ceftiofur has
