Isothipendyl hydrochloride is a crystalline cellulose derivative that is used as an excipient in pharmaceutical preparations. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of animal cells and bacteria, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, with optimum concentrations ranging from 3 to 30%.
