5-[2-(Benzenesulfonyl)ethyl]-1H-indole is a chemical compound that contains a nitro group, which is a functional group consisting of a nitrogen atom double-bonded to an oxygen atom. The synthesis of this compound involves the reaction of indole with 2-chloroethanol and benzenesulfonyl chloride in the presence of sodium hydroxide.
