CAS :L-Tyrosine is a biologically active natural amino acid that is used in the synthesis of proteins. It is also an intermediate in the synthesis of melanin. L-Tyrosine has been shown to be effective in clinical studies for the treatment of tyrosinase deficiency, which leads to increased susceptibility to skin cancer. L-Tyrosine disodium salt dihydrate (LTD) has been shown to have a hemolytic activity and can be used as an alternative to hydroquinone as a skin-lightening agent. It is also used as a substrate for diphenolase, which catalyzes the conversion of 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ethers into diphenols, such as 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylether (DDPE). L-Tyrosine disodium salt dihydrate can also inhibit gossypol derivatives by competitive inhibition and may be useful in treatments for prostate cancer.
