AMG-579 is a novel, orally available phosphodiesterase inhibitor. It has been shown to be effective in animal models of Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease, as well as in vitro experiments with cells from these diseases. AMG-579 has also been shown to inhibit the metabolic pathways that lead to the development of striatal lesions. This drug inhibits phosphodiesterases and guanosine receptors, which are involved in a number of biochemical pathways and have potential therapeutic applications for diseases such as Parkinson's and Huntington's.
